Alvernia University (formerly known as Alvernia College) is a leading private university located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, offering a range of degree programs including Associate of Science, B.Sc., B.A., Bachelor of Social Work, Master of Arts in Community Counseling, Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, M.B.A., Master of Education, Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, and Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership.
Alvernia received its charter from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1960. The Pennsylvania Department of Education granted university status to Alvernia College in 2008, the first university in the City of Reading. It offers the Online Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree which can be completed within two years. Students will finish the same curriculum as traditional on-campus programs. The online diploma is same as the on-campus diploma, with no distinction made between degree requirements met on campus or online.
The MBA degree program includes 36 credits (12 classes), to be completed in eight week modules. Required Courses include Managerial Accounting, Marketing Services, Quantitative Methods, Managerial Economics, Legal Environment, etc.
Alvernia University’s Business Department, including its major in human resource management, is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
The Occupational Therapy Department is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
