Massachusetts Institute of Technology was ranked No. 1 among the world's top 500 universities in the QS World University Rankings® 2015/2016, followed by Harvard University in No. 2 position.

Durham University has risen to 61st in the QS World University Rankings 2015-16. It was ranked even higher than 61st in some categories, for example, it was rated 54th in the world for research citations. In the category of Employer Reputation, the University was ranked 31st in the world.

The University of St Andrews has risen 20 places in the league table. It was ranked 68th in the QS World Rankings 2015/2016, its highest place ever in a global ranking. It is the ninth year in succession that St Andrews has made the world’s top 100 universities.

The University of Barcelona (UB) is the first-ranked university in Spain according to the prestigious QS World University Rankings for 2015-2016. The UB was rated 166th in the world ranking, and it rises one place to rank at 72nd at European level.

Heriot-Watt University was ranked 318th in the world, 42nd in UK and 7th in Scotland. It was also ranked in the world's top ten for our proportion of international students, and in the UK top ten for our proportion of international faculty.
