According to the Guardian University Guide 2013, University of Cambridge maintained its top position among the best universities in the UK, ahead of Oxford (2nd). London School of Economics moved up a place from 4th last year to 3rd for 2013.

The University of Warwick is ranked 5th overall in the UK and once again as the top University in the Midlands. In addition, a number of Warwick departments ranked in the top 5 in the UK, including: American Studies (1st), Business and Management (3rd), Film Studies (2nd), Mathematics (3rd), Sociology (3rd), Economics (4th).

The University of Bath is ranked 9th out of 120 universities and colleges across the UK. The University is ranked 5th for student satisfaction; equal 5th in the UK for graduate prospects; and 10th in the UK for student satisfaction in the teaching provided.

The University of Reading is ranked 25th in the 2013 Guardian University Guide, up seven places from last year's position (32nd), with strong ranking performance in the subjects of agriculture and food (1st), archaeology (5th), earth and marine sciences (3rd), education (3rd) and art and design (3rd).
