Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) is a historically black university located in Itta Bena, Mississippi, USA. It is one of eight state supported institutions for higher education in the state of Mississippi's consortium of Institutions for Higher Learning (IHL).

Mississippi Valley State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Associations of Colleges and Schools. The Baccalaureate degree program in Environmental Health is accredited by the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council. Other accreditations include: National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education; State Department of Education of Mississippi; National Accreditation Council for Environmental Health Curricula; National Association of Schools of Art and Design; etc.
