Central Michigan University (CMU) is a student-centered university offering a wide range of academic programs at the undergraduate, master's, specialist and doctoral levels.

The University has the following academic units: College of Business Administration; College of Communication and Fine Arts; College of Education and Human Services; College of Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences; College of Science and Technology; The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions; College of Graduate Studies; College of Medicine.

Notable CMU alumni include: Herbert H. McMillan (former Maryland state delegate), Peter Schoomaker (35th Chief of Staff of the United States Army), Anthony Zinni (retired United States Marine Corps general), etc.

CMU's 2009-2010 enrollment is the fourth largest among Michigan's 15 public universities.
