The University of Canberra was named among the best young universities in the world in the prestigious 2016 Times Higher Education (THE) 150 Under 50 ranking, which looks at universities’ performance in five areas of higher education excellence: teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook. In addition, the University of Canberra was ranked in the 501-600 band in the 2015-2016 Times Higher Education ranking out of 800 institutions worldwide.

QS World university Rankings:
- The University of Canberra was ranked in the 551-600 range in the QS World university Rankings 2016-2017.
- In 2015/16, the University of Canberra has entered the QS rankings of University’s under the age of 50 in the 91-100 band.
