According to the QS World University Ranking 2016/2017, Universiti Malaya (UM) improved its ranking from 146th position to 133rd globally. It is one of the three Malaysian universities ranked in top 300 QS world rankings.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM):
UTM has moved up the QS World University Rankings for 2016/2017 by 15 places to 288th worldwide, and is now among the top 300 universities worldwide.

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM):
UPM is also placed among the top 300 universities in the world as rated by the QS World University Ranking 2016/2017. UPM was last year ranked 331st and is now placed 270th globally.

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM):
UKM also jumped 10 places in the 2016/17 ranking. It is 302nd this year.
