Australian National University was ranked as the top university in Australia (No. 1 in Australia and 19th in the world), according to the QS World University Rankings 2015–2016.

The University of Melbourne was ranked No. 2 in Australia and 42nd overall among the top universities in the world. In addition, Melbourne was rated No. 1 in Australia and No. 22 in the world in terms of academic reputation, and 1st in Australia and 18th in the world for employer reputation.

The University of New South Wales (UNSW) was placed in the top 50 (at 46th – up from 48th last year) in the QS World University Rankings 2015-16 . UNSW enjoys an enviable employer reputation, ranking 22nd in the world. On academic reputation, the ranking is 42nd. In individual subject areas, UNSW continues its rise in Engineering and Technology, up six places from last year to 21st. It was also ranked 21st is Social Sciences and Management.

The University of South Australia has risen 45 places in the QS World University Rankings in 2015-2016, leaping into the top 300 universities worldwide. The university moved to 288th this year, from 333rd in 2014. QS also ranked UniSA in the top three percent globally in Arts and Humanities and Life Sciences and Medical Sciences.
