Truman State University is a top public liberal arts and sciences university in Missouri, United States.

Truman State University has been accredited since 1914 by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the School of Business are accredited in both Business and Accounting by AACSB International. The University is a fully-accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music. The Nursing program is accredited by CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) and approved by the Missouri Board of Nursing.

- Truman State University has been recognized as the No. 1 Public University in the Midwest Region by U.S. News & World Report's 2011 edition of "America's Best Colleges". This marks the 14th year Truman has been awarded this top ranking.

- Ranked 26th on the list of 100 best values in public colleges that "combine outstanding economic value with top-notch education". Truman State University is also ranked as the 10th best educational value for out-of-state students (Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine, February 2010).

- It has been acknowledged by the Peace Corps as one of the top universities in the nation for producing Peace Corps volunteers. Truman State University is rated No. 21 on that organization’s list of medium-sized schools producing volunteers.

- Ranked No. 1 in the Midwest Region for 'Strong Commitment to Teaching,' which is based on surveys that identify schools where the faculty have an unusually strong commitment to undergraduate teaching (USNWR 2010). Additionally Truman State University is ranked No. 14 on the list of Great Schools, Great Prices. This best value ranking relates a school's academic quality to the 2009-2010 academic year net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of need-based financial aid.

- Rated 2nd best value for public universities and 17th in the "Students Happy With Financial Aid" category in 2009 (Princeton Review Rankings).

- The Chemistry program is tied for 20th place nationally for the amount of American Chemical Society (ACS)-certified degrees awarded in the 2008-2009 time frame.
