Hong Kong institutions lead the QS Asian University Rankings for 2010, with three universities listed in the Asian top four: University of Hong Kong (1st), HKUST (2nd) and Chinese University of Hong Kong (4th). Six Hong Kong institutions received full score in the internationalization of teaching staff, and four received full score in the internationalization of students.
Ranking Analysis:
University of Hong Kong
- For the second year in a row, HKU was named as the best university in Asia.
- HKU was the only Hong Kong institution to be awarded a full-score in Academic peer review.
- 5th for Social sciences, ahead of CUHK (8th), HKUST (13th), CityU (17th) and PolyU (32nd).
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
- 2nd overall in the region.
- 35th for Arts and Humanities, up from 47th.
- It is the only HK institution placed in the top 10 for Natural sciences, ahead of HKU (14th), CUHK (15th), CityU (36th) and PolyU (49th).
- 7th for IT and Engineering in the region, ahead of HKU (16th), CUHK (21st), PolyU (24th) and CityU (26th).
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
- Jumped up from 38th place in 2009 to 30th in 2010.
- Moved up from 33rd place to 24th for IT and Engineering.
- 30th for Arts and Humanities (up from 37th).
Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)
- 8th for Social sciences (up a place from 9th in 2009).
- 13th for Life sciences & biomedicine (up from 15th).
City University of Hong Kong
- 44th for Life sciences & biomedicine, up from 53rd in 2009.
- 22nd for Arts and Humanities (up from 25th last year).
- 36th for Natural sciences, up 16 places from 52nd.
Hong Kong Baptist University
- Ranked 45th in the region, jumped up 28 places from last year.
